Robotics Process Automation (RPA)

AssistEdge-mdRobotic process automation (RPA) is the application of technology that allows employees in a company to configure computer software or a “robot” to capture and interpret existing applications for processing a transaction, manipulating data, triggering responses and communicating with other digital systems.

There are many software for RPA out of which following are top 3:

  • Blue Prism
  • Automation Anywhere
  • UiPath, etc.

Currently I am working on UiPath and its provides following types of automation:

  • Desktop automation

  • Email Automation, etc.

Using these activities we can robotize following processes:

1. Automation in Financial Services

A wide array of processes can be robotized robotics across industries in the financial sector, like:

  • Bank statement uploading
  • Receipts/Payments uploading
  • Accrual calculation
  • Reclassification entries
  • Extracting data from Fixed Asset Register
  • Journal entries

2. Business Process Automation

This solution mimics human actions in completing tasks which are traditionally done by human workforce and which are rule based. In this case RPA is able to interact with multiple applications at the same time like Oracle, Workday, SAP and other custom applications.

3. Excel Automation

We can automate Excel spreadsheet procedures and activities. By doing this all the data integrity checks, validation will be done by robot and reduce the data processing time from hours to minutes. With integration of Excel automation and robotic process automation we will be able to automate many operations in your organization.

4. Password Reset

Increasing applications and devices brings the complexity of rising password reset request and unlocking accounts requests. This increased password complexity directly correlates to increased helpdesk calls, this is not only expensive, but also a big distraction for the service desk team and a costly use of employee time, when they could be focusing on the productive business activities. Using RPA we can automate these requests of password resetting.

5. Call centers

We can automate the resolution of tickets related to phone numbers having different lengths and different structure ad different procedures in multiple applications. These tickets are mainly related to call centers.

6. Service Desk

Automation of service desk tickets having different categories. Using, these categories we automate their resolution and send confirmation email to requester.
